CONSECUTIVE INTERPRETATION

Consecutive interpretation is performed during the pauses that the speaker makes in his speech. This method is quite popular due to the fact that consecutive interpretation does not require special equipment, which means that it can be used in almost any conditions.

As opposed to the simultaneous interpretation, the consecutive one is usually required during the smaller events such as:

  • Court proceedings or notarial actions with the participation of foreigners; business, diplomatic or international negotiations; meetings, presentations, exhibitions, excursions;
  • Phone conversations, personal meetings with foreign colleagues or business partners, escorting foreign guests;
  • Commissioning works, master classes, consultations with foreign experts, etc.

Another difference between consecutive and simultaneous interpretation is that the first one can be performed by a single interpreter, whereas the second one usually requires to work in pairs.
